Cherokee Nation Federal opioid case returning to Oklahoma

A federal opioid lawsuit is heading back to Oklahoma in an effort to speed up the trial. Last week, the U. S. Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation remanded the Cherokee Nation’s lawsuit to federal court in Oklahoma. Back in 2017, the tribe filed a lawsuit against five companies accused of flooding the Cherokee Nation with opioids. This was one of the first opioid lawsuits nationwide and the first case filed by a sovereign Indian tribe.
